Painting/Drawing Portfolio:
It's been a while since I've done any painting or drawing. When I attended the New School for the Arts I studied a number of things, and being around other great artists gave me a chance to explore many different mediums. I began doing some figure studies and various paintings. I'll try and post the paintings as soon as possible. My drawings were already scanned, so here they are.

My First Life Sketch - Pencil Most of my sketches were faceless or as close to it as possible. I wanted to work more with the body than with the person's personality, so I chose to leave their individuality out of it. It made them seem darker and a little more mysterious, not to mention quicker and easier. |
My Second Life Sketch - Pencil At the time, I was really interested in b&w photography and I loved shadows. I wanted to try my hand at some high contrast lighting and shadows in my drawings, and this was my attempt. |
My Third Life Sketch - Pencil After drawing something dark, I wanted to try something lighter and in a different position. |
My Fourth Life Sketch - Pencil I don't really remember what I was thinking when I did this one. I guess I was just doodleing. |
My Fifth Life Sketch - Pencil This one was my least favorite of the life sketches. I still don't really like it. I'm not sure why. That must be why I started drawing people with clothes on instead from that point on. |
My Sixth Life Sketch - Pencil My girlfriend at the time (my wife now) and I took some pictures one day and we had a set of "promise rings". I really liked the picture and ever since that day whenever I have done wedding photography I always do a similar picture for the bride and groom. I also decided to sketch it, and here's that version. |
My Seventh Life Sketch - Pencil We had a used book sale at NSA and I ran across some old 1940's book that I still have somewhere around here. I love just about anything pre-1950. It had pictures from all over the world, and one picture in particular seemed to jump out at me, so one day I drew it. I drew the people without a background because it left more to the imagination. Nobody seems to know for sure what they're looking at, but I do. |
